TIFF to WebP converter

Convert TIFF to WebP in your browser: your files are never uploaded, there is no limit on how many you convert, and a heavy TIFF becomes a small WebP, with transparency kept and the quality you set. Drop in one TIFF or a whole batch and download the WebP files straight away.

    TIFF to WebP

    85

Lower makes the file smaller, higher keeps more detail.

Everything happens in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.

    How it works

    1. Choose your TIFF files

Drop them into the box, choose them on your device or paste with Ctrl+V.

    2. Converted automatically

Each file is converted to WebP straight away in your browser.

    3. Download

File by file, or everything at once as a ZIP file.

    Web-ready from a heavy file

A TIFF is made to preserve everything, which is why it is so big. When the picture goes on a website, WebP shows the same image in a fraction of the size, in every current browser. It also supports transparency, so a cut-out stays cut out.

    Settings

The quality slider starts at 85, which looks the same as the original for most images. For scans of text or line art, go to 90 or higher and compare with the original. For photos, 75 to 85 gives a clearly smaller file that still looks good on screen. The size summary under each file shows the effect immediately.

    Resize for the web

A scan or print file often has far more pixels than a web page can show. A picture displayed 1000 pixels wide does not need 6000. Shrink image first, then convert: the file ends up smaller and the conversion is quicker.

    Other things to know

    • Multi-page TIFF. The largest image in the file is used.
    • Keep the TIFF. WebP is lossy, and a copy made here is for display, not for archiving or print.
    • Compatibility. Some email programs and older software cannot open WebP; TIFF to JPG is the most compatible choice. For the smallest files, try TIFF to AVIF.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the transparency of my TIFF kept?

Yes, if the TIFF has an alpha channel, it is stored in the WebP.

How much smaller will the WebP be?

Very much, for uncompressed TIFFs: often only a small fraction of the original. The size summary under each file shows the exact difference.

Can I use the WebP for print?

It is meant for screens. Use the TIFF, or a lossless PNG, for print.

    Is my TIFF uploaded?

No. The WebP is made in your browser, so the TIFF never leaves your device. A TIFF can be tens of megabytes, so converting on your own device also saves the upload time. There is no limit on file size or number of files, apart from your device's memory.
