TIFF to JPG converter

Convert TIFF to JPG in your browser: your files are never uploaded, there is no limit on how many you convert, and a heavy TIFF becomes a small JPG, with the quality you set. Drop in one TIFF or a whole batch and download the JPG files straight away.

    TIFF to JPG

    90

Lower makes the file smaller, higher keeps more detail.

JPG has no transparency; see-through areas get this colour.

Everything happens in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.

    How it works

    1. Choose your TIFF files

Drop them into the box, choose them on your device or paste with Ctrl+V.

    2. Converted automatically

Each file is converted to JPG straight away in your browser.

    3. Download

File by file, or everything at once as a ZIP file.

The standard way to share a scan

Most programs, email clients and websites cannot show a TIFF, or choke on its size. A JPG of the same scan opens everywhere and is many times smaller. Convert here when you want to send a photo from a scanner or camera, upload it somewhere with a size limit, or put it on a web page.

    Choosing the quality

The slider starts at 90, which keeps photos visually the same as the original. Lower it to 75 to 85 for a much smaller file that still looks fine at screen size. For scans of text and line art, stay at 90 or above; JPG adds faint noise around sharp edges. Check the size summary under each file to see what you save.

    Before you convert

    • Large scans. A 6000 pixel wide scan makes a large JPG. If it will be shown on screen only, shrink it first with shrink image.
    • Transparency. JPG cannot have it. Any transparent areas in the TIFF get the colour under Background, white at first.
    • Multi-page TIFF. Only the largest image in the file is used.
    • Archiving. Keep your TIFF. A JPG made from it has lost some detail permanently. If you need a lossless web copy, TIFF to PNG keeps everything at a larger size.

For a scan that needs straightening, rotate image can help before you convert, and crop image removes the scanner edges.

    Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will the JPG be?

Often a tiny fraction of the TIFF, since TIFF files are usually uncompressed. The size summary under each file shows the exact numbers.

What happens to the transparency in my TIFF?

JPG has none, so transparent areas get the background colour you choose under the settings.

Should I delete the TIFF afterwards?

No. Keep it as the master. A JPG loses some detail for good and is not suitable to edit again and again.

    Is my TIFF uploaded?

No. The JPG is made in your browser, so the TIFF never leaves your device. A TIFF can be tens of megabytes, so converting on your own device also saves the upload time. There is no limit on file size or number of files, apart from your device's memory.
