    90

Lower makes the file smaller, higher keeps more detail.

JPG has no transparency; see-through areas get this colour.

Everything happens in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.

    How it works

    1. Choose your PNG files

Drop them into the box, choose them on your device or paste with Ctrl+V.

    2. Converted automatically

Each file is converted to JPG straight away in your browser.

    3. Download

File by file, or everything at once as a ZIP file.

    Transparency becomes a colour

JPG has no transparency. Everything that is transparent in your PNG is filled with the colour under Background, white by default. Set it to match the page or document where the JPG will appear. If you need the transparency to stay, JPG is the wrong target: use PNG to WebP instead, which keeps it and is smaller than a PNG.

When JPG is the right choice

JPG is best for photos. A photo saved as PNG is easily five times bigger than the JPG, so convert PNG photos to JPG to save space, to email them, or to upload them where a size limit applies. Many forms and printing services also accept only JPG.

    When it is not

Screenshots, logos and text pictures are better left as PNG. JPG compresses by simplifying small differences between neighbouring pixels, which leaves a faint noise around sharp edges and thin text. If you must use JPG for such an image, raise the quality to 95 or higher.

    Quality setting

The slider starts at 90, which looks the same as the original for most photos. Lower it to make the file smaller and watch the preview for blocky areas; raise it when you plan to edit and save the JPG again. Resize large pictures first with shrink image for an even smaller file. Need a lossless version again later? JPG to PNG will not recover lost detail but stops further loss.

    Frequently asked questions

What happens to the transparent areas of my PNG?

They are filled with the background colour you choose under the settings. It starts at white.

    Which quality should I choose?

90 is a good default for photos. Go up to 95 for screenshots or images with text, or down to 70 to 80 when a small file matters more than the last bit of detail.

How much smaller will the JPG be?

For photos, often several times smaller. For simple graphics with flat colours the gain is smaller, and the JPG can look worse. The size summary under each file shows the exact change.

    Is my PNG uploaded?

No. The JPG is made in your browser, so the PNG never leaves your device. Screenshots and designs often hold things you would rather not share, and here they stay with you. There is no limit on file size or number of files, apart from your device's memory.
