SVG to AVIF converter

Convert SVG to AVIF in your browser: your files are never uploaded, there is no limit on how many you convert, and the vector is drawn at the size you choose and compressed with the quality you set. Drop in one SVG or a whole batch and download the AVIF files straight away.

    SVG to AVIF

    60

Lower makes the file smaller, higher keeps more detail.

SVG is a vector file; choose how large the AVIF will be.

Everything happens in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.

    How it works

    1. Choose your SVG files

Drop them into the box, choose them on your device or paste with Ctrl+V.

    2. Converted automatically

Each file is converted to AVIF straight away in your browser.

    3. Download

File by file, or everything at once as a ZIP file.

A pixel version of a vector

AVIF is a pixel format, so the converter first draws your SVG at the size set under Size (1×, 2× or 4× of the width and height in the SVG) and then compresses that picture. The AVIF keeps transparent areas, so a logo without a background stays without one.

    When this makes sense

For a flat logo or icon, the SVG itself is almost always the smallest and sharpest choice. An AVIF is useful when a place does not accept SVG, such as some social networks, email builders and image fields, and when the artwork is a rich illustration with gradients and shadows. Those have lots of fine detail where AVIF compresses well, while SVG files of the same artwork can be heavy.

    Settings that matter

    • Size. A vector has no fixed resolution, so choose it. Use 2× for ordinary screens and 4× if the picture will be shown large or on high-density displays.
    • Quality. The slider starts at 60. Flat colours and sharp edges show compression noise sooner than photos do, so raise it to 80 or more for logos and compare with the original.
    • Fallback. For flat vector art, SVG to WebP or SVG to PNG are safer, as they work in more places.

The AVIF encoder is about 3.4 MB and loads from this site the first time you use it.

    Frequently asked questions

What size will the AVIF be?

The size of the SVG's width and height multiplied by the Size setting. An SVG that is 200 × 200 pixels gives 400 × 400 at the default 2×.

    Is the transparency kept?

Yes. Areas of the SVG without fill stay transparent in the AVIF.

Should I replace my SVG with an AVIF?

For simple shapes and logos, no. An SVG is usually smaller and sharp at every size. Use AVIF only where SVG is not accepted or for complex artwork.

    Is my SVG uploaded?

No. The AVIF is made in your browser, so the SVG never leaves your device. Logos and drawings of unreleased work are not sent anywhere. The AVIF encoder (about 3.4 MB) is loaded from this site the first time you use it; your image is not sent along.
