    JPG to GIF

Everything happens in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.

    How it works

    1. Choose your JPG files

Drop them into the box, choose them on your device or paste with Ctrl+V.

    2. Converted automatically

Each file is converted to GIF straight away in your browser.

    3. Download

File by file, or everything at once as a ZIP file.

What a GIF can and cannot do

A GIF can show at most 256 colours, while a JPG photo uses millions. When the converter reduces the palette, gradients such as skies and skin turn into visible bands, and the file is often larger than the JPG you started with. GIF is therefore a poor home for photos.

    When it still makes sense

    • A forum, chat app or old content system that only accepts GIF for avatars or small images.
    • Simple graphics, scans of line art or screenshots with flat colours, where 256 colours are plenty.
    • A small thumbnail or badge, where banding is hard to see.

    Tips for a better result

Make the image small first: shrink image to the size you need, because a smaller picture also means a smaller GIF and fewer visible bands. Crop away what you do not need with crop image. If you need a lossless picture of the photo rather than a GIF, JPG to PNG keeps all the colours.

This converter makes still images. It does not turn several photos into an animation.

    Frequently asked questions

Why does my GIF look grainy?

A GIF can only hold 256 colours. The tool picks the best palette it can and mixes colours with a pattern (dithering), which looks grainy at full size, especially in smooth areas.

Can I make an animated GIF from my JPGs?

No. Every file becomes a separate still GIF. This tool does not combine pictures into an animation.

Is the GIF smaller than my JPG?

Usually not for photos. GIF compresses flat colours well but photos poorly, so the GIF is often larger. The size summary shows the real numbers.

    Is my JPG uploaded?

No. The GIF is made in your browser, so the JPG never leaves your device. Photos are often private, and here they stay that way. There is no limit on file size or number of files, apart from your device's memory.
