PNG to TIFF converter

Convert PNG to TIFF in your browser: your files are never uploaded, there is no limit on how many you convert, and transparency is kept and the result is an uncompressed TIFF. Drop in one PNG or a whole batch and download the TIFF files straight away.

    PNG to TIFF

Everything happens in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.

    How it works

    1. Choose your PNG files

Drop them into the box, choose them on your device or paste with Ctrl+V.

    2. Converted automatically

Each file is converted to TIFF straight away in your browser.

    3. Download

File by file, or everything at once as a ZIP file.

    For print and layout programs

Print shops, layout programs and image archives often ask for TIFF. Converting a PNG to TIFF gets your artwork into that workflow without changing a pixel: both formats are lossless, so the TIFF holds exactly what the PNG showed.

    Transparency

When your PNG has transparency, the TIFF gets an alpha channel with the same transparent areas, which most layout programs can use. A PNG without transparency becomes a plain RGB TIFF.

    What to expect

    • A much bigger file. PNG compresses its data and this TIFF does not, so a PNG of 500 KB can become a TIFF of several megabytes.
    • RGB only. The converter does not change colour spaces. If your printer needs CMYK, convert in a layout or photo editing program.
    • Resolution is up to you. A TIFF made here has the same pixel size as your PNG. For print, check that it has enough pixels: 300 dpi means about 1200 pixels per 10 cm. A small PNG will look soft in print however it is stored, and enlarge image cannot add real detail.

For a photo, JPG to TIFF does the same. If you want a Photoshop file instead, use PNG to PSD.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is the TIFF lossless?

Yes. PNG and TIFF both store all pixel data, so nothing is lost in the conversion.

Why is the TIFF so much bigger?

The TIFF made here is not compressed. The file size follows the pixel count instead of the content.

    Is the transparency kept?

Yes, as an alpha channel, if your PNG has any. Not every program reads TIFF transparency, so check in the program you will use it in.

    Is my PNG uploaded?

No. The TIFF is made in your browser, so the PNG never leaves your device. Screenshots and designs often hold things you would rather not share, and here they stay with you. There is no limit on file size or number of files, apart from your device's memory.
