Supported Markdown
Headings (#), bold, italic, links, images, ordered and unordered lists, blockquotes, code blocks, horizontal rules and tables (GitHub style) are all supported, together with task lists and strikethrough.
Tick Enter is a new line if you want single line breaks to become <br>, as on GitHub and in chat apps. Without it, a single line break stays inside the paragraph, as in standard Markdown.
Example
A Markdown table with | a | b | and |---|---| becomes a <table> with <thead> and <tbody>, and - [x] done becomes a list item with a disabled checked checkbox.
Safe to preview, not to publish
The preview is shown in a sandboxed frame, so scripts in your text don't run. The HTML itself is not cleaned, though: raw HTML and links with javascript: are kept as typed. Sanitise the output before showing user-written Markdown on a web page.
Copy the HTML or download it as an .html file. To go the other way, use HTML to Markdown. To get plain text from Markdown, use Markdown to text, and to read the result as text, HTML to text.
Frequently asked questions
Which flavour of Markdown is used?
GitHub Flavored Markdown: tables, task lists (`- [x] done`), strikethrough (`~~old~~`), fenced code blocks and autolinks, on top of standard Markdown.
Is the HTML sanitised?
No. Raw HTML inside the Markdown stays in the output, and so would a link such as `[x](javascript:alert(1))`. The preview runs in a sandboxed frame, but clean the HTML with a sanitiser before publishing text from people you do not trust.
How do I get line breaks like on GitHub?
Tick *Enter is a new line*. A single line break then becomes `<br>` instead of staying inside the paragraph.
Can I download the result?
Yes, as an `.html` file, or copy the code. The preview underneath shows how it will look.
