Capitalize the last letter of each word
A playful text effect: the last letter of every word becomes a capital. hello brave world becomes hellO bravE worlD. Paste your text; it is converted in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
How it works
-
Paste your text
Type or paste the text in the left box, or open a .txt file. No text to hand? Click Example.
-
Instant result
The result appears as you type. Change the options and see straight away what changes.
-
Copy or download
Copy the result with one click, save it as a file or use it as input for a next step.
How it works
The tool looks at each word and capitalises its final letter. Digits and punctuation at the end of a word are skipped, so world! becomes worlD! and route 66 keeps its numbers. The other letters aren't touched, and a word between brackets, (world), becomes (worlD).
Ideas
- Stylised names, logos and social media posts.
- Puzzles and word games: spot the hidden pattern.
- Testing how your software handles unusual capitalisation.
For the first letter of every word, use capitalize each word. To turn a text into all capitals, use the uppercase converter.
Combine with other effects
The result can be used as input for the next step. Reverse the text first with reverse text, and the capitals end up at the start of each word, or scramble the letters with randomize text for a puzzle effect.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to digits and punctuation at the end of a word?
They are skipped. The tool capitalises the last letter it finds, so `world!` becomes `worlD!`, and `route 66` becomes `routE 66`, since the numbers have no capital form.
How does it treat single-letter words?
A one-letter word is both first and last, so `a` becomes `A`.
Will accented letters be handled?
Yes. `café` becomes `cafÉ`, and the capital keeps its accent.
Is this useful for anything but fun?
Mostly for stylised text, but it also makes a quick test for software that handles unusual capitalisation, such as search that ignores case or sorting that does not.
